It’s not impossible for you to do commercial windows glass installation for yourself. Doing this job without the help of any professional can be a bit tricky and tedious depending on your willingness. However, if you want to do it yourself without buying the service of commercial windows installation service, then go through this article.

Before doing anything, arrange a pry bar and a measuring tape. Make sure the commercial windows have aluminum frames as they are the most common windows to be replaced.

Step 1
Your first step should be to measure the dimensions of the window area. Take the measuring tape and measure the height of the frame. Take the measurements from the sill to the underside of the jamb. Then, measure the window from side jamb to side jamb.

Step 2
Use the pry bar on the interior of the structure for pulling the wooden stops on windows’ each side. Remove the sash. You can do this by pressing firmly on the jamb liner and applying pressure from inside the windows frame. Once you do this, you can pull the sash forward from the top. Then, turn the sash slightly upward to break it free from the jamb liner.

Step 3
Take a simple putty knife. Scrape away any loose paint from the jambs. Sand the jambs smooth followed by filling in any holes that are left from previous window installations.

Step 4
Unscrew the access panel and remove the sash weights of the replacement window. Take out any fiberglass that might be in the weight pockets at this time.

Step 5
This step includes applying beads of caulk to the exterior casings of and to the window sill. Don’t fail to do this before setting the new window in place. Then, set the window into the opening from inside the structure.

Step 6
Set the bottom portion of the window in place, the move it slowly into position. Once you are sure the window is in place, place screws in the pre-drilled holes of the aluminum frame.

Step 7
Fill in any gaps on the outside and inside of the window by using caulk and expanding foam. Expanding foam grows fast and often grows out past the gap you were filling. So, let the foam cure until it becomes firm. Then, trim the excess and replace any wooden sill’s pieces designed to decor it.

These are the 7 step by step guides to install commercial window glass. If you cannot do all these yourself, then hire a company that deals in commercial windows installation.
