Things to know About Long Term Evolution (LTE)

LTE networks have been around for so many years. The industry that has created 3GPP technologies launched the project in December 2004. So, the LTE release date can be defined as December 2004.

In the present era, almost every cellular-enabled device sold support LTE or Long Term Evolution for 4G service. The first LTE-compatible phones were launched with a few hours of battery backup. However, today, cellular phones can last up to two days with a single charge. Here, the question comes to mind is – what is LTE, and what are its roles and responsibilities?

Long Term Evolution, commonly known as LTE, is the fastest network technology. In order to operate networks throughout the world, LTE helps in simplifying their infrastructures to reduce the cost and maximize the quality of their offerings to subscribers. Mobile network operators declared it the most advanced network technology. Hence, LTE is the long term evolution of the Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS).

Furthermore, Long Term Evolution is what the 3GPP entitles as their next step. Universal Mobile Telecommunications System is the ground of standards that define 3G or 3rd Generation for GSM networks across the world, including AT&T and T-Mobile’s 3G networks. The bandwidth of LTE is a highly effective, easily deployable network technology that offers high speeds and low latencies over long distances. For example, two of the four LTE network operators were rated for obtaining the desired outcome.

An average download speed of Verizon’s LTE service was 31.1 Mbps. On the other hand, an average upload speed was 17.1 Mbps. T-Mobile’s LTE is available with a download speed of 20.5 Mbps. On the other hand, an average upload speed was 13.5 Mbps. It does not show that all networks are equally created. Some of the networks are not able to achieve these objectives.

In addition to this, an average download speed of Sprint’s LTE service was 4.0 Mbps, and an average upload speed was 2.5 Mbps. Likewise, AT&T’s LTE service was highly effective as compared to Sprint’s. However, it is bad with an average download speed of 7.6 Mbps, and an average upload speed comes with 2.4 Mbps.
